Madras High Court Refuses To Quash Cheating Case Against Drone Manufacturing Company, Says Sufficient Material To Proceed
The Madras High Court recently dismissed a petition filed by Drone Manufacturing company – Ideaforge, seeking to quash a cheating case registered against it by Garuda Aerospace Pvt Ltd. Justice P Velmurugan noted that the grounds taken by Ideaforge to quash the case was in the nature of defence which could be decided only at the time of trial.

Money Laundering Includes Every Activity Dealing With Proceeds Of Crime, Not Limited To Final Act Of Integrating Money Into Economy: Madras HC
The Madras High Court recently observed that Section 3 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act had wider reach and that money laundering would include any activity or process of dealing with proceeds of crime, either directly or indirectly. The court made it clear that the offence was not limited to the final act of integrating tainted money into the economy.

The Supreme Court has recently issued notice on a Special Leave Petition filed by B. Selvakumar, the owner of M/s. Cheers Ventures, a supermarket chain in Chennai. He approached the apex court assailing the decision of Madras High Court wherein the High Court had dismissed his appeal against a complaint by the Food Safety Officer of Adyar Zone, Chennai under Section 52 (1) and 59 (1) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The Madras High Court recently observed that the procedural safeguards regarding recording of statement during investigation and trial provided under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act and the CrPC are meant to ensure a child-friendly atmosphere for the victim child and when procedural lapses do not impact the prosecution case, the same would not vitiate the trial.

Built Suit Agreement That Does Not Create Rights Over Property Will be Stamped Under Article 5(j) of Indian Stamp Act 1899: Madras High Court
The Madras High Court has observed that when a built suit agreement does not confer any vested right over the property or gives possession of the property, the document will be stamped under Article 5(j) of Schedule 1 of the Indian Stamp Act 1899 and not under Article 5(i) of the Act.

The Madras High Court bench of Justice M Nirmal Kumar recently dismissed a revision petition against the order passed by Metropolitan Magistrate Court Egmore dismissing a defamation complaint against the President and Secretary-General of the All India Yadav Maha Sabha. The petition was filed by one Nandagopal Yadav, who was suspended from the post of Vice President of the Sabha.
